The project started at the beginning of the pandemic with a single test season of 6 episodes, and through hard work of the organizers and the generosity of the guests, is now in the midst of its 6th season. Looking towards the future, we talk about ways of improving communication in Budo, and how Juandiego is approaching the subject of making Budo content be more accessible for people all over the world, regardless of their mother language and where they practice Budo.Ĭafé Geiko is an interview program developed by Santiago and Kendo Uniandes as a space to meet and connect with the international kendo community. In this wide-ranging conversation, we explore Juandiego’s journey in budo, ripe with ups and downs, including his involvement in several Empty Mind Films projects, and the days in Sendai during the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. Juandiego holds the rank of 3dan in Kendo and 4dan in Kyudo, and is the founding director of the Ecuadorian Kyudo Association.
